BLENDED LEARNING

The Montessori Approach

What is the Montessori approach?

The Montessori Approach (Dr Maria Montessori 1870-1952) is to see the child as a dynamic learner, full of creative potential and in need of the freedom to be able to develop as a happy and confident individual.

We put the emphasis on giving the children their freedom (within limits), allowing them to take control of their own learning experiences and development. The Montessori Approach encourages the children to learn independence and confidence from a young age, our staff will never do tasks for the children, but will first show the child how to do it for themselves. This approach also promotes the children to start taking control and making their own decisions.

From birth to 6 years old is the period when children have the greatest capacity to learn, this is when unconscious learning is gradually brought to the conscious level. Throughout these first 6 years, the Montessori Approach makes it known that the children are to be respected differently from adults, but are treated as individuals who differ from each other.

What are the benefits of a Montessori inspired nursery?

We believe that our Montessori inspired approach is very effective, and has a proven successful track record in early years development to maximise each child's abilities.

This approach provides a very stable and solid foundation for the children to then move on and start their school life. The freedom that this approach gives the children not only allows them to choose their own activities, but because of this freedom of choice the children become enthusiastic learners, which helps them to develop self discipline later on in life.

At Country Kids Day Nursery we allow the children to progress at their own pace, watching them grow in confidence and developing the way that they should be.

Other Benefits to the Montessori Approach

Children develop best in a caring 'home' environment where they are allowed to express themselves.

The Montessori Approach provides the children with a nourishing, safe environment.

It is designed so that the children meet all their needs for their self development, so they are ready to start school aged 5.

Expression is encouraged through art, craft and role play, helping the children develop their imagination and creative skills.

Promotes the child's self esteem to be number one, building confidence and a personality.

Provides an all round learning environment, helping the child develop physically, cognitively, socially and emotionally.

A positive learning environment to help the children grow in all aspects of their life.

Child-centred learning and development.

Montessori Inspired Nursery Rooms

Our Montessori inspired nursery rooms give our children a calm, comforting environment, another home from home. We provide an open plan living space for our children to explore, with homely soft furnishings to allow them to relax. The open plan, bright and spacious design of our nurseries encourages our children to openly choose what they'd like to play with and learn, with open shelves and play areas this is made easy for them.

In all of our nursery settings we provide sensory materials and toys so that the children can learn all about the world around them. Through playing with our toys, they begin to understand all about length, width, temperature, mass and colour, as well as learning how to describe different objects around them. Not only are these sensory materials and play toys great for their awareness, but it also helps with their communication skills and self confidence.
